Leave it to Tyler to create a shoe that unites two distinct worlds. You can just as easily imagine Tyler hiking up a mountain in Giannos (thanks to their geometric tread), as you can envision one of his skater friends wearing them with a pair of baggy jeans.

The shoe, which also takes inspiration from Converse’s vast archive of basketball sneakers, comes in a few different colorways-there’s a rusty brown, accented by a Klein blue, and one in light cream with hints of seafoam green. The Really Cool Converse Club is just part of Tyler’s ongoing collaboration with Converse. Rule number two: if you must wear another shoe, don’t. The offending member – a greaser played by actor and SNL veteran Tim Meadows – has broken one of the club’s three cardinal rules: “Rule number one: never wear another shoe. Tyler, the Creator and his brand GOLF WANG’S relationship with Converse has been quite successful, with the two coming together creating revamps of classic sneakers such as the One Star and the Chuck Taylor All Star since 2017. “We couldn’t come up with a name, so we decided to come up with the cheapest name, and it was funny as hell, so it worked out.” The club itself isn’t messing around though, and is seen putting a “delinquent” member on trial.
“The name was not planned out,” Tyler tells Dazed. The visual revolves around a meeting of the ‘Really Cool Converse Club’ in a community recreation centre. Nevertheless, he’s also found time to write and direct a new video for Converse, celebrating the classic Converse Chuck 70. Tyler, the Creator has had his work cut out the past few months, releasing his latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost, and self-directing the visuals to go with it.
